We firmly believe in teaching synthetic phonics rapidly to young children to develop accurate fluent readers. Reading is the key to all the rest of the learning at primary school.

Each morning all our children up to Year 3 participate in a half hour lesson at their level. Assessments take place regularly and children move between groups as they progress so they continue to receive targeted teaching, until all their phonic knowledge is secure.

We use the Read Write Inc scheme, which we find to be fast and effective. Our staff are trained and updated regularly in the correct teaching methods for this scheme.
